The cats chase the rats

Eric Stephens with the mountain of rubbish

CAT lover Eric Stephens is putting his four moggies to good use – keeping rats at bay as he waits for his bin bags to be collected.

The dad-of-two, from Hornsey Road, King-standing, said his bins had not been emptied since before Christ-mas.

He said he had regularly spotted rats trying to tear open refuse sacks piled high near his home.

“It’s a good job I have my cats otherwise the rats would be all over the place,” he said. “They are keeping the rats at bay.”

Unemployed Mr Stephens said he could not move his car from his driveway unless he moved the bags littering his street.

“It’s like a landfill site,” he said.“We have been promised collect-ions since before Christmas but nothing has happened. The situation is disgusting and something needs to be done urgently. The collection teams should get all the rubbish sorted and then deal with their grievances"
