Brilliant picture of 'Girl With Kitten'

I'm not sure the kitten is very comfortable but it is a striking painting. The girl is Kitty Garman - the Garmans have connections with our house through a previous owner Anchitel Garman. Kitty Garman appears in the paintings by Lucian Freud Girl with a Fig Leaf; Girl in a Dark Jacket; and Girl with Kitten, all executed in 1947. Freud married her in 1948.

    It is a very atmospheric picture and the kitten looks as if he is saying something to the painter!
