CATS RETURNS AFTER 2000 MILE JOURNEY

A cat called Douglas is back in New Zealand after stowing away in a shipping container aboard a ship that has travelled across the Tasman Sea, ending in Adelaide.

The cat usually lives on site at Tesco Singapore’s New Zealand plant in Tauranga and after a few days absence his missing was noticed.

He was inside a container carrying drilling equipment and when it was being emptied in Adelaide, Douglas wandered out and sat to the side calmly.

Workers in Australia say he left no mess in the container.
The 18 month old cat was taken under the charge of Australian Quarantine and Inspection Service officer Emma Cook, who has since boarded him on a flight back to New Zealand.
