Cats and the Great Plague

In 1665 the Lord Mayor of London had a great idea. The plague was rampant and as cats were not dying they must be responsible so kill them and they did in their hundreds which as we now know if they hadn't they might have killed the rats spreading the disease! The plague was the first 'incursion of the of the plague into the human race' but not the last.
