It would appear that silly superstitions means that black cats are shunned by potential owners. The old wives' tales suggest black cats are the companions of witches and that a black cat crossing your path can mean good or bad luck depending on the direction of travel. Being the owner of Sheba a cat who is as black as can be there is no question of her being evil in any sense she has the sweetest disposition but was abandoned on Cannock Chase as a tiny kitten - perhaps a silly superstition had condemned her to death. Fortunately she was sniffed out by a troubled dog and rescued by the owner and eventually ended up with us.
