Infected Badgers can kill cats

Pet cats could be infected with bovine tuberculosis and die. The UK's Environmental Secretary is standing by his comments that suggested domestic pets like cats could catch TB from infected cows that themselves had been infected by badgers. There is the danger of cross infection of the TB which is highly contagious. The speculation that cats in turn might affect humans is correct in that humans can catch TB from infected untreated milk or meat that isn't thoroughly cooked.

If a farm cat were to contract TB say from the saliva of an animal and then licked a human face while transmissions are rare it is not impossible.
