Cats being abandoned in record numbers

There may be as many as seven million abandoned cats in the UK. These poor creatures are found by organisations like the Celia Hammond Animal Trust in extra-ordinary places from rubbish tips to garden sheds from riversides to  roadsides. More injuries appear to be inflicted on the poor creatures by air rifles, barbed wire, knives and hammers! The reasons appear to be many some families take on kittens but then get bored as the little kitten becomes a cat and not so cute. Some owners fail to have the animals neutered and then can't cope with the litter. One woman called Wood Green , The Animals Charity to ask if it was OK to poison her cat. Sadly this situation means that healthy cats may not be allowed to live because of the pressure on space.
