When you begin to write a story about cats that have personalities then inevitably you come write about your own. In 'The Tenth Life' there are many brave and strong cats as well as timid and shy ones. Each cat has its own personality and it is hard to work out why two kittens develop different personalities. One of the strongest cats in the story is Craw she is brave, resilient and clever. Even when they look you in the eye you never quite know what they're thinking - this is Sheba - like the Queen of Sheba - dark and brooding and in the book she become a brave and fearsome mother who will fight to defend her young.
