A Plague waiting to happen

Author Michael Hanlon has analysed the real threat of plague from a variety of sources and the conclusion 'We know our enemy and we are on its case but unfortunately in genetic terms, our enemy knows us.' 'Inevitably one day a microscopic ball will shuffle its genes around in the body of a chicken or perhaps a pig  or cat and a killer of biblical proportions will emerge. It won't be the end of the world but it will feel like it for anyone unlucky enough to be around at the time'. Beware!

Cat 'Plague': Updated symptoms

Symptoms update 9th August 2010
The general symptoms have now been updates to incorporate the latest research on the condition.
Stage One
General lethargy followed by a total lack of interest in any food. Drinking and liquid intake stops almost completely.
Stage Two
This is indicated by excessive licking and cleaning. This phase goes on for several days - a rash appears on the underbelly and steps need to be taken to prevent cleaning of this area using a collar.
Stage Three
Vomiting follows unless the medication is having impact and then involuntary muscle spasms.
Final Stage
The the loss of bodily control and eventually severe shakes jerking the animals head violently. This 'shuddering' can then lead to paralysis and death.

All symptoms must be reported immediately.
