Future secured for rare cats

The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre, a private research and breeding facility for endangered species in South Africa, is closely affiliated with the Cat Conservation Trust in South Africa and Ree Park in Denmark to ensure a future for the endangered black-footed cat.

Cats Dale and Dagmar will be moving from the Cat Conservation Trust to The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre soon in hope that once they’ve settled into their new home, they will mate with the cats at the centre, who are a perfect age match for the pair.

Eventually Dale and Dagmar will move to Ree Park, where they will become part of the European black-footed cat breeding programme. The Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre has built four new enclosures in anticipation of the project, which will start once the cats arrive.
