How stroking your cat can stop you having a stroke

HAVING a pet in your home could halve the risk of your kids becoming allergic to animals, according to experts.

CATS SLASH STROKES: People who own cats are 40 per cent less likely to suffer a fatal heart attack, according to a study at the University of Minnesota in the US.

Researcher Dr Adnan Qureshi said stroking moggies seems to lower owners' stress and anxiety, making them less likely to develop cardiovascular diseases.

He said: "This opens a whole new avenue for treatments, and unlike drugs or surgery, cat ownership doesn't appear to have any risks."
