New virus causes devastation

The Schmallenberg virus affects lambs who are born dead or deformed and has been confirmed across Europe and in the UK. Domestic midges have been affected after biting a local animal that was already infected. This is further evidence of the danger to all viral infections from common midges who can transfer disease across species. Again this is further evidence that trans-species infection has become a major concern including the infection of domestic animals like cats.
