The world's oldest pet cemetery

Established in 1899 the world's oldest known organised pet cemetery is in a suburb of Paris. Founded in 1899 due to a law which prohibited the casual disposal of domestic animals the cemetery flourished and has at least 40,000 pets buried there. Today the elaborate gravestones tell the stories of many loved pets.  However  the guardians of the whole cemetery are the cats who walk, sleep and even live amongst the gravestones. At least those asleep know they are been looked after!
