As a result of the very wet summer and winter as many as 7.2 million cats in the UK may be infected because of eggs from the parasitic roundworm. This can create infection in humans leading to toxocariasis causing sickness in humans and in serious cases permanent vision loss. Cat owners need to ensure that their animals are regularly checked for fleas and parasites. It is simply a question of being a good cat owner.
