Lost cat found after 6 years!

Sar Chi was found 6 years after going missing
Whilst Beauty the kitten remains lost - see our previous stories here and here - a recent story shows that happy endings are still possible despite the passing of time.

The Kirkwood family, from Wallingford in Oxfordshire, England, lost their tabby cat Sar Chi way back in 2005. Despite a huge search throughout their neighbourhood the Kirkwoods never found Sar Chi again.

Recently, the family decided to adopt a new cat and began looking through the listings of a local rescue centre - only to be stunned to see a picture of their long-lost pet on its website!

The Kirkwoods took their old pictures of Sar Chi to the rescue centre. A comparison between their the tabby's unique markings and the cat on the website duly confirmed that their missing pet had been found!

Sar Chi was immediately reunited with his old family and has now been microchipped, with the Kirkwoods over the moon to have their tabby back.

However, Sar Chi's whereabouts since 2005 are unknown. He had been brought into the rescue centre at the beginning of this September, with no name tag or microchip.

The intervening six years seem set to remain a complete mystery!

RSPCA issue warning over pedigree pet thefts in Halton

THE RSPCA and Cats Protection have warned Halton residents to be on their guard against pedigree pet thieves.

In recent weeks a number of pets have gone missing in the borough, sparking fears that opportunist crooks are stealing valuable animals to breed or sell.

A chocolate point Siamese cat, belonging to Jo Bowyer, of Jefferson Gardens, Widnes, went missing last month.

Jo says that Libby, who is worth around £250, is not a cat who would usually stray far from home.

She said: “It has all been very distressing.

“I have spent the past few weeks searching for her, putting up posters, walking the streets and calling her name but so far my little friend has not been found or returned home.”

Barbara Smith, manager of Cats Protection’s Adoption Centre, said: “Cats Protection is concerned at the disappearances of these cats and would urge anyone with any information to contact the RSPCA or police immediately.

“We would advise all cat owners to keep their pets in at night and to get them neutered, if not done so already, as neutered cats are much less likely to roam.”

Leanne Plumtree, spokeswoman for the Halton RSPCA, said: “We would urge all cat owners to have their pet microchipped as the best way to ensure they can be re-united if they ever go missing or are stolen.

“Microchipping involves inserting a small chip, the size of a grain of rice, under the skin which has a unique number.

“The chip can be scanned to reveal the number which is logged on a database along with the owner’s details.

“There are many amazing stories of cats being separated from their owners for many months, and even years, in different parts of the country being re-united with their owners because of a microchip"

MISSING MOGGY FOUND ON SOCIAL NETWORKING SITE

Fluffy the cat went missing more than a year ago and has now been reunited with his owner after he was spotted on Facebook.

Karen Walker thought she would never see her beloved three-and-a-half-year-old Fluffy again after he vanished one day.

But to her amazement she spotted a picture of fluffy on her friend Hayley Morgan’s Facebook page.

Hayley, a volunteer for the Stourbridge branch of Cats Protection, had been handed Fluffy just a couple of weeks earlier.

Overjoyed Karen, of Old Swinford, West Mids, said:

“I always look at the photos Hayley puts on – I saw a black and white cat and thought, that’s my cat!”
