As few as 26 lives could have been saved by the £1.24 billion swine flu campaign according to an official study.
The Health Protection agency has estimated that vaccinations and other health precautions saved between 26 and 67 lives. Sir Liam Donaldson, the Chief Medical Officer, warned that up to 65,000 could die.Britain was one of the best protected countries against the pandemic which killed 457 in the UK.
If only 26 lives were saved that would equate to £47.7 million per life.
