Smokeys purr is as loud as a boeing 737. We cat lovers would agree that there is nothing more soothing than the sound of our cat’s purring with contentment. But when Smokey kicks off its time to reach for the ear plugs. Most cats produce around 25 decibels, however the sound she reaches can reach an incredible 92 –decibels – the same as you would experience watching a Boeing 737 coming in to land.
Smokey can drown out phone conversations and the noise of a TV says owners Ruth and Mark.
They describe her purr as if she has ‘a dove stuck in her throat’.
Guinness world records said it had a category in place for the nosiest cat but no entries yet – Smokey could create a new world record.
